| | Model | Tundra SR5 | | | What things have gone wrong with the car? | Backseat is suitable for two children but too small for adults on an extended trip. | | | General comments? | In response to John Martin, you're comparing apples with pomegranites. Toyota Tundra's come with a V-8 option. The V-8 happens to be a 4.7 liter motor. The standard motor for a F-150 is the 4.6 liter which the Tundra will run circles around. Obviously, when you purchased the Tundra, you knew it came with a smaller V-8 than the 5.7 in your old F-150. Did you expect it to have more power? With the 5.7 L motor comes heavier suspension which SHOULD haul a heavier payload. The 5.7L motor option in your F-150 is a considerably larger motor and should out power a Tundra but I don't believe anyone is going to buy the story of better gas mileage.
As an aside, Ford engineers used the 4.7L Tundra's V-8 engine as a benchmark when they designed the 5.4L V-8 for the next generation F-150. They spent $485 million on the tooling alone. Ford took a page from Toyota's playbook and declared war on noise, vibration and harshness. It's yet another indication that automakers are making pickups more car like because that's what the customers are asking for. | | | Previous car | Ford F150, Chev. 1500, Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux. |
